Our Story
In the Kitchen

It all began with an incredible peanut brittle recipe from Grandma Roberta (Thank You, Roberta) and a long time interest in the specialty food industry. Surprisingly, an opportunity presented itself when my career in the corporate financial sector came to an abrupt halt in the aftermath of the “2008 Wall Street Meltdown”. With the development of these new circumstances, I took a leap of faith and moved towards a totally new career path, my own specialty food business. And what better product to bring to market than this incredible brittle!

Judy, Roberta’s daughter, agreed and joined in on the venture. So with recipe in hand and excitement in every challenging step, our company, T.U. Roberta LLC , was formed. We are now sharing this delectable candy by proudly offering two varieties of the brittle with a “distinctively light crunch”, LavaCrunch, Macadamia Nut Brittle and Gold Country Crunch, Peanut Brittle.

Robert J Parra
Grandma

Roberta Cawthon was born in Cypress California in 1908 on the family farm. She learned to cook while quite young because it was required in the big families of that time, and candy was her favorite.

When she became Roberta Parra, and had her own family, at Christmas she would always make peanut brittle for all the men in the family and gave it as gifts to relatives, and neighbors. Her three girls, Nan, Jan, and Judy, could not wait for that smell of roasted peanuts and the buttery taste of that brittle. Roberta would search out stores everywhere for affordable but beautiful tins to pack her brittle in.

Every time we cook a batch of brittle, at T.U. Roberta, that roasted nut smell takes me back to the holidays in the family kitchen.
Thank you, Mama…..Thank you, Roberta.

I can’t tell you how important those “encouraging words” have been from friends, relatives and complete strangers that have purchased our brittle but found the time to send a note saying “This is the best brittle I’ve ever tasted!”….
